Blogging takes dedication

As I said several months ago, I am not a good blogger. I have not had an original thought in two months....kidding. I have finished up lessons for Teen VBS 2011 and working on Spring Teen Discovery 2010. In addition to that we had camp, back to school things and our own Discovery. Surely that explains it. No original thoughts this time either. But in the words of General Mac., I shall return.

  1. Hello Brother DuBose. I read this post. I then took your advise and read your www.westwoododessa.org pastor's pen about cyber zombies. I, myself, work on creating literature for our teenagers at our ABA church for Wednesday nights. I am only 25 years old. After seeing a picture of you and after reading a bit of your blog, I was beginning to feel a little bit of frustration.

I was wondering to myself, "Are we in the ABA serious? DO we really want this white-headed man who seems so disconnected from the teenage mind writing our TEEN LESSONS! Do we really want someone like him, someone older who cannot connect on the minds of our young people to present the message in a way easy to be received, writing our Teen VBS 2011 and Spring Teen Discovery 2010?

As I finished your article and was about to post a comment that was most likely not positive and encouraging in its nature, another thought struck me. Scripture teaches the elder are to instruct the younger. I also made a quick connection as to how my thoughts sounded an awful lot like those screaming "Go up, thou bald head." I'm thankful I wasn't swallowed up by a she-bear, and I'm thankful you are speaking the truth. I'm sure you do stay in constant contact with young people to see how they view the world so you can continue writing good literature to be received well (as good as the VBS has been in the past), and I wanted to apologize for the thoughts I had, even though I never made them known.

  2. I hope you haven't taken offense to what I stated. I recently read what I posted (again) on this page, and the comment may have come across incorrectly. I wanted you to know that while I had at first believed (based upon your web-site comment) you were not in touch with today's youth, I realized by the end of reading it that I was the one who was wrong. I wasn't listening, nor was I thinking about all the awesome VBS lessons in the past we've had. I only typed this above comment to make you aware that while I had at first thought poorly of you, I wanted to apologize and tell you how wonderful a job you and the other ABA authors have done and are doing. Thanks so much.
